Electricity provides the power that makes our homes warm, bright and cheerful. As you explore the neighborhoods here at KCPLKids, you'll find all about how we make electricity, how it gets delivered to your door and how KCP&L works hard for its friends and neighbors.

You'll find out lots of ways to conserve electrical energy so you can help your parents save money on their electric bill by touring the Energy House.

But we also want to help you be safe around the electricity found in your home. To help do that, we've included some guidelines on how to use electricity safely in your home. Understanding the basics of electrical safety can protect you and your family from harm.

We can help in other ways, too. We offer safety presentations to parent groups, child care providers, teachers and other interested groups. You can invite Sparky and Electra, our safety-minded squirrels, to visit your group and teach youngsters the basics of safety. Our Lineman Speakers Bureau also offers a free presentation geared specifically to elementary school students.
